Merkins
A "merkin" was apparently pubic wig dating back to the 1400's. Supposedly they were originally used by prostitutes to cover up genital sores from STD's, or to replace body hair that was shaved off to eliminate lice - or so says several websites I found after stumbling across the word. Apparently they are still made for strippers for working in communities who have regulations against the bald look, and fancy ones to flash from under miniskirts are being made for nightclub wear (bright colors, beaded buterflies etc...).
